786 Explained

These days everything is regarded as shirk and bidat. People easily call other Muslims as 'mushrik' and 'kaafir' over trivial things. One such issue is substituting 786 for Bismillah. Is it a sin to use numbers? No. It is a science of language and this has not been prohibited in Quran or Sunnat while infact this language of number was presented before Rasool Allah (saw) and he replied to that person without objecting him or prohibiting the language of numbers. Every letter in the arabic alphabet is given a number. When you add up, the word Bismillah comes to 786. Some elders suggested writing 786 instead of Bismillah on papers and books that you can't have control over (example examination answer sheet). These papers with Bismillah written over it can go in drains on thrown in dustbins, thereby insulting the name of Allah. We must should always be careful about disrespecting Quran, Allah or the great personalities in Islam.

SSome people object that can you read numbers in Salah, instead of actual Arabic text of Quran? The answer is no. Just like you can read urdu or English translations of Quran in Salah, you can't read the numerical translation either. So this argument is wrong.

TAs long as there is no direct prohibition in Quran or Sunnah, anything is allowed based on our intentions. You need to have direct order or Sunnah for faraz and sunnah but for nafeel ibaadat, everything is allowed as long as its not prohibited in Quran and Sunnah.

Importance of Patience

O you who believe, be steadfast; be supreme in steadfastness... (Surah Al 'Imran, 200) Allah has revealed in a verse, "This is a Book We have sent down to you so that you can bring mankind from the darkness to the light, by the permission of their Lord, to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy" (Surah Ibrahim, 1) , thus drawing attention to the Qur'an's attribute of bringing people from darkness to light. The Qur'an defines patience as one of the paths that lead people from darkness to light and as an attribute of morality that is superior to, wide-ranging, and very different from the daily behavior of many people. True patience is a moral characteristic displayed in the face of difficulty and in every moment of life. Moreover, it requires the demonstration of determination and consistency during times of ease and hardship, and is a lifelong endeavor that never goes astray, even for a moment. Allah gives the most striking examples of patience in the lives...
