HOW I CAME TO ISLAM

Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) All I have to say is all what you know already, to confirm what you already know, the message of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as given by God - the Religion of Truth. As human beings we are given a consciousness and a duty that has placed us at the top of creation. Man is created to be God's deputy on earth, and it is important to realize the obligation to rid ourselves of all illusions and to make our lives a preparation for the next life. Anybody who misses this chance is not likely to be given another, to be brought back again and again, because it says in Qur'an Majeed that when man is brought to account, he will say, "O Lord, send us back and give us another chance." The Lord will say, "If I send you back you will do the same." MY EARLY RELIGIOUS UPBRINGING I was brought up in the modern world of all the luxury and the high life of show business. I was born in a Christian home, but we know that every child is born

Increasing Number Of Germans Embracing Islam

BERLIN, October 25 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - The number of Germans who accept Islam "is rising each year" and they "are getting younger and younger," confirmed the director of a Muslim cultural center in the capital Berlin. "Many are looking for new lifestyles and some sense of direction," Herzog-turned Mohammed – a former Protestant who worked in a social welfare center for Turkish immigrants for many years, told Agence France-Presse (AFP) Saturday, October 25. To all appearances Herr Herzog is an average German, but on Sunday, October 26, he will be one of a growing number of his compatriots to observe the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, one of the five pillars of their faith, according to AFP. Herzog converted to Islam in 1979 when he realized that "the Qur'an gathered together everything I had ever believed in." Today he is the director of a Muslim cultural center in the capital Berlin and he maintains that the number of G

Bible led me to Islam

Abdul Malik LeBlanc tells how he discovered Islam within the pages of Bible Taken from International Edition Voice of Islam November 1998, Page 25 During my Christian days there were many verses in the Bible that made me question the religion I was following (Christianity). There was one particular verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 which says; "pray without ceasing," that lingered heavily in my mind. I often wondered how a person (Christian) was supposed to pray (be in a state of worship) without ceasing? Without any biblical or divine guidance, the only way I thought this to be possible was to always do good deeds and keep the remembrance of God on my tongue and in my heart. However, I found this to be impossible to do as a human being. But when I was introduced to Islam in 1987, and began to read and learn more about this way of life, I found that Islam provided divine guidance both from God (Allah) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by which a person could pray (be in a state of worshi

Thousands Of British Elite Embrace Islam: Study

LONDON, February 26 (IslamOnline.net) – Jonathan Birt, the son of Lord Birt and Emma Clark, the granddaughter of former liberal prime minister Herbert Asquith, are only two of 14,000 mostly-elite white Britons having reverted to Islam. In the first authoritative study of the phenomenon, carried by the Sunday Times on February 22, some of the country’s top landowners, celebrities and the offspring of senior Establishment figures have embraced the Muslim faith after being disillusioned with western values. The new study by Yahya (formerly Jonathan) Birt, son of Lord Birt, former director-general of the BBC, provides the first reliable data on the sensitive subject of the movement of Christians into Islam. He uses a breakdown of the latest census figures to conclude that there are now 14,200 white reverts in Britain. Mass Conversion Speaking publicly for the first time about his faith this weekend, Birt argued that an inspirational figure, similar to the American revert Malcolm X for Afr

Islam convert speak on how he found religion

By Karen Schwartz, Daily Staff Reporter October 22, 2003 LSA sophomore Michael Dann was raised as a Christian, going to church and Sunday school in Amherst, Mass., as was his family's tradition. But four years ago, he decided he was destined for a different path. Dann converted to Islam, which he said has changed his life. Dann said he went from being involved in "the drug culture" and party scene in junior high school to looking for something more in life - thanks to the example set by his tennis coach, a black Muslim man from New Jersey. "Through my contact with him, and especially through tennis, I got to see there was something more serious about life, something more serious than gratifying your immediate desires," he said, adding that his coach did not often talk about Islam explicitly but rather led by example. "It was just through his approach to life and his character, being around him - I was attracted to something I knew he had, something that was

From Brahman to Islam

Allah's grace that I'm blessed with deen of Allah, I'm Mohammed Umar Rao from India , I embraced Islam 6 years back at the age of 18. I wanted to share my story with you all perhaps this would make a difference for non Muslims to really think over to know what is the truth .I shared my story with 2 brothers, Alhamdulillah, they were convinced that my decision and choice is best, they started reading Quran and also embraced it few days back. My Background: I come from a middle class orthodox Brahmin family; my parents worked in private firms (Mother: teacher, Father: textile engineer). My religious education was at my maternal uncle's place, that's how I became orthodox and my whole family education was always against Muslims, which was nailed in me deeply. I was associated with RSS for few years; I always hated Muslims to the extent that in all public functions I wanted to give high volume for music sound boxes to ensure that the Adhaan should not be heard at all. I

A Born Muslim

By Sachin Pareek In the name of ALLAH, the Most gracious, most merciful. My name is Sachin Pareek and I am 32 years old. I am an Indian science graduate working as a content developer in biology. My journey to Islam is a result of guidance offered to me by an Egyptian woman. Hence, I dedicate this story to her. She has become my spiritual guide and sister. I belong to an orthodox but progressive Hindu family. There are four sects in Hinduism. I come from the Brahmin sect, the most prestigious and educated category among the Hindus. I followed my parental faith in the learning phase of childhood. My approach to the Almighty started as a pagan with polytheistic devotion to our Hindus gods, and I was quite aware of the sectarian discrimination that prevailed in my society. I always wondered about the originator of this universe, His strength, vastness, and many more things. All answers to my queries about the Almighty were not answered by my parent's ideology. We human beings have sel

My Life as a New Muslim

By Sr. Fathima Lienberg I am Fathima Liebenberg, a white Muslim woman converted to Islam in 1995. I am very proud to say! I am a Muslim, but if it was not for my son I would never have been a Muslim. For me it was a hard and long struggle because it cost me my job, friends and family. My life before Islam I was a very pious Christian who went to the Pentecostal churches. I used to collect the street children and take them to the church and Sunday school. My life consisted only of reading and studying the bible, until my son told me about Islam. My son came home one day and said, "Mummy! Why don't you become a Muslim?' I was shocked at the very idea and said, "Never'. He said, "Mummy! Islam is such a pure and clean religion, they pray five times a day'. That is when I decided to read the books and the translation of the Noble Quran. The more I read the Quran, the more I was convinced that Islam was for me. I turned to Allah and finally I found peace and tr
